Assignment 6

Assignment 6 has been posted.  This is a long assignment that will involve 4 quizzes, one on Friday 16 March, one on Friday 23 March, one on Friday 30 March and one on Friday, 20 April 2012.  This assignment overlaps Spring Break, and will require you to use Ross Anderson, "Security Engineering", 2nd ed.  The first 2 quizzes have been posted.  The last 2 quizzes will be posted later in March.  See

Reminder, CSC3080 Midterm Tonight, Thursday, 8 March

Reminder, the CSC3080 Operating Systems midterm is tonight, Thursday, 8 March from 8 to 10 pm. Be sure to have a webcam and your student ID. Try to be online on Skype by 7:55 pm. After I check student ID's I will send the exam URL.

You will have until 10 pm to submit the midterm. You will then have 48 hours to improve your answers for half credit on the improvement, provided you have made substantial progress during the 2 hours tonight.

Midterm

The CSC3080 midterm will be given during a 2-hour supervised Skype session on or before Friday, 9 March 2012.  The default time is Thursday, 8 March 2012 from 8 to 10 pm.  If you wish to propose an alternate time contact the instructor via Skype IM or email no later than Friday 2 March 2012.

Assigmments 4 and 5 are posted on the assignments page. Unfortunately, most people still owe me assignment 3 as well. Please note that the midterm is coming up fast. Time to get caught up.

Welcome to the blog for CSC3080S12 an online section of Operating Systems at Dowling College being run during Spring 2012 (27 January 2012 -- 14 May 2012).  You will find much more detail about the course at http://www.bernstein-plus-sons.com/.dowling/CSC3080S12/.  If you are new to the course, the first things you need to do are:

1. Get yourself a computer or netbook with good internet access and a webcam
2. Put Skype onto your computer and send me an email at yaya at bernstein-plus-sons dot com with your skype id, so I can try to send you a contact request
3. Sign up for a Google gmail account so you can start you own blog for this course and your own web page for this course
4. Get your text books
